Students adding glamour to gala ball

Students from the South Eastern Regional College (SERC) will put their creative skills to the test with the Hillsborough International Oyster Festival’s “A Night at the Oscars” Banquet and Ball.

The tudents from SERC’s Lisburn Campus have been given the opportunity to work in partnership with Festival organisers to set the tone for one of the most eagerly awaited events on the Northern Ireland social calendar.

The Banquet and Ball, on Friday, September 6, in the Festival’s Grand Marquee, is an event fit for ‘A-list’ and Hollywood royalty, incorporating a cocktail reception, a luxurious six course dining experience, and a seven-piece band, so guests can also follow in the footsteps of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and dance the night away.

The local students will work with the Festival team to decorate the Marquee and create an experience and atmosphere where guests can indulge their A-list fantasies with an evening of Hollywood style and glamour including rolling out the red carpet, decking the hall and calling the paparazzi.

Dr Keri-Ann Ross, SERC’s Art and Design tutor explains: “Our students are very excited and looking forward to helping out at the world-renowned Hillsborough International Oyster Festival, especially during this special year as it marks its 21st Birthday.

“We are very grateful to the organisers for giving our students the opportunity to gain invaluable real-life work experience while also allowing them to showcase their creative design skills.”
