Pupils and parents were delighted that, after a long and sometimes challenging period, Year 12 students were awarded GCSE results that reflected their hard work and dedication to study.

“Our young people should be proud of these examination results,” said principal Mr Niall O’Hara. “This success is record breaking in many areas and a just reward for the commitment the pupils showed throughout their studies. Everyone at the school has worked relentlessly to give our pupils the greatest chance of success. In terms of individual success top achievers, receiving combinations of A, B and C grades are; Aaron Skidmore, Thomas McGleenon, Tiegan Wiseman and Cerys Maginty.

“Extremely impressive results were awarded across all departments, in particular the PE and Technology and Design departments attained a 100% pass rate of A* to C grades, while the Art department celebrates 100% of students obtaining A*-C grades for the eighth consecutive year.

“The results distributed are a true reflection of our pupils’ hard work and study. There has been no over-inflation and the results achieved correlate almost exactly to the whole school targets we set in October 2019. There has been an increase of 27% in the number of pupils achieving five A*-C grades, including English and Maths, and a 46% increase in the number of A*-C grades across the entire Year 12 cohort. As a school we are delighted. I pay tribute to the hard work of all staff, the support of parents and especially the diligence of pupils in their efforts to achieve their full potential.”

Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Brendan Loughran, expressed his delight with the results.
