Students rewarded for further education success

BANBRIDGE students were among the 140 Southern Regional College pupils recently awarded for their achievements in further education.

Erin Boomer, from Banbridge, who studied the University of Ulster Access Diploma in Adult Learning was awarded Student of the Year for the School of General Studies.

Lecturers said: “Erin’s attendance, work ethic and attitude were outstanding throughout the two years of her course. She always showed evidence of a wide range of reading and contributed exceedingly well in class. Erin is very well respected by peers and lecturers alike”.

Michael Clements ,who studied the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services at the Banbridge Campus, was awarded Student of the Year for the School of General Studies. Michael was described by lecturers as “an exemplary and diligent student” and have no doubt about his future success.

Mr Brian Doran, Chief Executive of SRC, welcomed students and guests and congratulated them on their success. He said, “The ceremony marked the culmination of very many hours, indeed years, of hard work and commitment from all of you present. The awards you have received were not easily obtained and you should feel very proud of your achievements.”

Students from the following schools received their certificates on the night: School of Construction, Engineering and Apprenticeship Training; School of Creative Studies; School of Early Years and Healthcare; School of General Studies; School of Hospitality and Tourism.
