Summer placement for Academy pupils

STUDENTS from Banbridge Academy are spending a two week summer placement at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown following their success at the BT Business of Science and Technology (BoST) Programme 2011 held at NovaUCD.

William Clackett and Neil Cunningham, whose project was based on research into the effects of loo roll choices on the environment, have been offered the opportunity to spend a week in the School of Computing and Mathematics and the Nanotechnology and Integrated Bio Engineering Centre.

They have also been offered a week placement in the faculty of Computing and Engineering summer camp, where they will be joined by team-mate Romy Gerring. Their project was placed first in the Intermediate Category for ‘Biological and Ecological’ at the BT Young Scientist & Technology exhibition in January.
