Tara has her day at the races

Lisburn’s Tara Armstrong has been selected as one of seven Navan Racecourse and Fairyhouse Racecourse student interns, through the Horse Racing Ireland Internship Programme .

Tara began a 12-week work placement on June 8.

This, the second year of the HRI programme, saw 47 students shortlisted from more than140 applications. Four of the seven selected will work in HRI’s racecourses: Leopardstown, Fairyhouse, Navan and Tipperary and three will are at head office at Ballymany, Kildare, in the Marketing Department, The Racing Department and TOTE Ireland.

Tara just completed her Bachelor of Science degreesin Equine Management at Enniskillen’s College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise. She has travelled to Japan and France, gaining industry experience . She also plays netball and has represented Ulster in Badminton.

The interns will assist in racecourse operations such as marketing, sales, social media, website maintenance, raceday operations and the promotion of events over the summer season.
