A good day for Banbridge - Simpson

THE announcement by Health Minister Edwin Poots that Banbridge’s long-awaited Health Village is to begin taking shape this summer has been welcomed by Upper Bann MLA David Simpson.

“This is exactly what we have been hoping for and working towards for Banbridge over many years,” said Mr Simpson. “A wide range of people have pressed for this over a lengthy period of time. However on every occasion they always came up against insurmountable barriers. The situation changed dramatically under the current Health Minister.

“I have been engaging with the Minister and party colleague Sammy Wilson Minister for Finance and Personnel intensively over recent months to secure this much needed investment in health provision for Banbridge. I am delighted that this is now to go ahead with the £15 million of capital funding and with work scheduled to start very quickly.

“This much needed investment will allow for a one-stop-shop incorporating a wide range of services in state of the art facilities.

“I want to thank the Minister for the way that he has moved so swiftly to deliver this for the people of Banbridge. I got the sense from him very quickly that he was very sympathetic to the case I and my colleagues were making to him on the need for and benefits of this investment. This is a good day for Banbridge.”
