Abseil for Marie Curie this March

CALLING thrillseekers across the district - Marie Curie Cancer Care is holding its fifth annual Scrabo Tower Abseil on Saturday March 31.

Alice McCrory, Nursing Services Manager, is helping the Events Team launch this year’s event along with past participants Hanna Geary and Jenny Cameron, and is calling on all potential participants to make it their New Year’s resolution to challenge themselves to tackle this iconic landmark in support of the nursing service.

Past participant Jenny Cameron describes her experience, “Abseiling down Scrabo Tower was one of the best experiences in my life. It was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time! I’ll never forget the feeling as I leaned backwards over the side of the tower, or the sound of my screams! I felt extremely proud of myself once I had done it; the thought of having raised so much money for Marie Curie Cancer Care made it all worthwhile.”

Alice McCrory explains just how beneficial this type of fundraising is, “Over the last four years participants from the local community have contributed to a total of 4,300 hours of Marie Curie nursing care to local patients in the area. The care and support given to patients is provided free of charge to patients and their families. Care costs millions to provide and the charity depends on the support of the public to fund its services. By signing up to this event you will be helping us to continue reaching many patients and their families here in Northern Ireland. ”

Once you join, the charity will support you all the way and you will come away with memories that last a lifetime.
