Beautician appeals to help frontline staff

A Lurgan based beautician was inspired to donate skin care products to Craigavon Area Hospital after seeing harrowing pictures of staff whose skin has been suffering from the masks that they must wear to protect them from coronavirus.

Stephanie Beggs, who runs Beauty Boutique from her home in Lurgan, was shocked to see how painful the skin was on the faces of doctors and nurses on the frontline of the battle against this terrible disease.

And after seeing similar appeals from other businesses, she decided to appeal to clients to donate a little money to enable her to buy products which would help the NHS staff at this difficult time.

“I was inspired by local Body Shop At Home area manager Alison Peters,” explained Stephanie. “She has been posting on social media and has been able to donate 110 hand creams and shower gels for NHS staff.

“My close friend is a nurse in Craigavon Area Hospital and I wanted to help. I have seen numerous posts on social media of nurses and doctors faces after wearing the masks and visors and their skin look painful, irritated and indented.

“I have a passion for skin care and skin treatments and have been using Eve Taylor Aromatherapy Skin & Body Care products in my salon from I opened. They are natural aromatherapy and plant based products, so they are kind, gentle but very effective for treating and array of skin concerns.

“So I decided to put a post on my business page to see if anyone would like to put money towards an order for the staff at Craigavon hospital for the Eve Taylor soothing facial oils, which calm and sooth irritated skin.

“Within 24 hours I had sent off an order for 45 skin care products. When they arrive with me, my friend who is a nurse in Craigavon will collect them and share them out among the staff.”

Stephanie is continuing with her appeal and is hoping to be able to order even more products for the local frontline staff.

“If anyone would like to donate they can find me on social media, it doesn’t have to be a large amount, it all adds up. I have business pages on Facebook and Instagram - Stephanie Beggs Beauty Boutique,” Stephanie continued.

“I would normally give privately and anonymously but with something like this, other people want to get involved and help. Hopefully more businesses are inspired to help in any way they can. So many already are and it’s great to see.

“These people are working tirelessly and in difficult conditions and it’s nice to give them a little treat. My next order will more skin care products along with body products too, such as soothing foot lotions and muscle gel.”
