CORONAVIRUS Women’s Aid issues appeal for food

An NI Women’s Aid group has issued an urgent appeal for food as supplies deplete during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Armagh Down Women’s Aid group, which has bases in Portadown and Newry, issued the appeal this morning.

One their Facebook page, they said: “Please help. We are running low on food.”

They are particularly interested in people donating certain types of food and have pointed people to drop off venues.

The food they need includes: Tea, coffee, cereals, children’s cereals, pasta, pasta sauces, rice, tinned fish, tinned meats, jams, diluting juices, frying oil, beans, spagetti, tinned vegetables, tinned soup, tinned fruit, custard, rice pudding, biscuits and snacks.

They are asking people to donate today Thursday between 12 and 2pm at their centres in 53 Williams St Portadown or 7 Downshire Place, Newry.
