The PSNI were called yesterday to the beauty spot, which is on the banks of the River Bann, following concerns from the public about a large group of people.

Police said in a social media post today: "We found that, whilst some people were adhering to social distancing and the Health Protection Regulations 2020, the majority at this location were not.

"We are aware that further gatherings have been planned for today. Mid Ulster District Council has taken the decision to close the car park at Newferry from 2pm today and we will be in attendance to engage, explain and encourage those in attendance to adhere to the Health Protection Regulations."
