Special council meeting cancelled

Mid Ulster District Council has cancelled a special council meeting due to focus on its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s understood that due to the discussions that took place at a meeting on Monday night behind closed doors, councillors were in agreement that a public meeting was no longer required.

As a result, the request to hold a special meeting tonight (Thursday) was withdrawn.

When asked about the meeting, a spokesperson for Mid Ulster District Council confirmed it has been cancelled.

“A special council meeting was requested for this Thursday and the request was subsequently withdrawn,” said the Council spokesperson.

It is understood that, as things stand, the next monthly meeting of Mid Ulster District Council, scheduled for next Thursday (26th March), will go ahead as planned.
