Three more recycling centres set to reopen in Mid Ulster

Maghera, Coalisland and Tullyvar Recycling Centres will all re-open early next week joining Cookstown, Drumcoo and Magherafelt Recycling Centres which re-opened earlier this month.

Maghera Recycling Centre will re-open on Monday 1 June, Tullyvar Recycling Centre on Tuesday 2 June, followed by Coalisland Recycling Centre on Wednesday 3 June.

Maghera and Coalisland Recycling Centres will operate from Monday to Saturday 8.30am – 5.30pm and Tullyvar will operate from Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturday 8.30am – 1.30pm. Due to the size of these centres, the potential for congestion and to ensure social distancing guidance is adhered to, trailers will not be permitted.

As before, commercial waste will not be accepted at these sites but residents can continue to dispose of commercial waste at Cookstown, Drumcoo and Magherafelt Recycling Centres where trailers will also be accepted.

Speaking on the latest re-openings, Chair of the Council, Councillor Martin Kearney said, “The news that the Council is to re-open three more recycling centres across the district early next week will be widely welcomed by residents of Mid Ulster. The latest re-openings will mean that the district’s five main towns, together with the Clogher Valley, will once again be serviced by recycling centres. I must remind users of the importance of following all safety measures in place at the centres including adhering to social distancing regulations.

“This latest development again emphasises the Council’s commitment to continue to provide key services for residents and is the next step in our road to recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.”
