Upper Bann MLA Jo-Anne Dobson has called for Northern Ireland not to be left behind in relation to the Meningitis B vaccine.

Mrs Dobson, who has campaigned for years on this issue, welcomed news that the vaccine is to be rolled out in other regions but was shocked that its rollout here is under doubt.

“I am fully aware that the finances in the health service are in a state of crisis, but it would be wholly unacceptable if children’s lives were to be put at risk simply because a Minister claims there is not enough money in the pot.

“Delaying the rollout of this vaccine is simply not an option; either Simon Hamilton should find the money or else let someone else come in and do it for him. An area where the required level of savings could be made is in administration.”
