Gordons Chemists manager assures public, ''We are business as usual''

While the transformational renovation works continue in the High Street Mall in Portadown, the staff at Gordons Chemists want to assure their customers and patients that it is still business as usual for the local pharmacy chain that has served the public in Portadown’s town centre for many years.

While Pharmacy Mangers Rosemary Hutchinson and Lynn McCausland are looking forward to the current re-development of the popular town-centre shopping destination, they want to highlight that the usual services Gordons Chemists offer are not affected.

“We want to ensure all our patients that we continue to operate as normal during the renovation works,” states Rosemary. “The role of the pharmacist has changed in recent years. We of course dispense medicines and fulfil prescriptions but we also offer a wide range of additional services that make it easy and convenient for the local community to access their medication and healthcare. This means that the community have come to rely on their local Pharmacist a lot more than previously,” explains Rosemary

“We make it as easy as possible for our patients to get their regular medication, through the Prescription Collection Service that we offer in Portadown. We are able to collect your prescription from a number of GP Surgeries in Portadown and the surrounding area, and have your medication ready and waiting for you, to collect from us when it suits you. Our patients tell us that this saves them a great deal of time and running about. Please ask us in the pharmacy if you feel that this service might be useful to you.”

“As a Community Pharmacy, we are now much more involved in direct patient care than we would have been in the past, through the various Professional Services that we offer. These include diet and lifestyle advice, asthma and diabetes review and our ever-popular smoking cessation programme to name a few. We have also just launched the FREE Flu Vaccination service to 50-64 year olds, which is vitally important at this time of year, especially with Covid-19 still in circulation. In Portadown this means that our patients can get access to a professional healthcare provider – right here in the town centre and all these services are still available while the renovations are taking place,” continues Lynn.
