Grace awarded for charity work

Mrs McCullough has dedicated the past 44 years to supporting the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund, and her work has not gone unnoticed.

In order to acknowledge Mrs McCullough’s commitment to the charity, the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund recently presented her with an engraved crystal trophy.

The charity supports and promotes research into the causes, prevention and possible cures for kidney disease, as well as providing specialised equipment for research and advances in the treatment of kidney diseases.

In addition, they work to increase public awareness of kidney disease and the success of modern treatment, as well as promoting the National Organ Donor Register.

The Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund was founded in 1971 by a young woman from Waringstown named Mrs Josephine Kerr. Together with her husband, Walter, family and friends, Mrs Kerr formed a steering group in 1970 - before founding the charity the following year.

Mrs McCullough was a member of that original steering group and, over the past forty-four years, she has helped the charity raise an incredible £7.5million - which is put directly towards helping the people of Northern Ireland.
