Jonathan takes on New York Marathon for ‘KIDS’ charity

A BALLYMENA man is preparing to hit the streets of New York in November and run the Big Apple’s renowned marathon to raise money for a charity working with disabled children and their families.

Jonathan Davison (27), who lives just outside Clough, will be taking part in the gruelling run with university friend and talented runner Roy McLaughlin.

Despite not being a keen runner himself, Jonathan decided to take part in the NY marathon after learning about the work that KIDS does and he has been in training since June.

The former Ballymena Academy pupil who now works as a business analyst for Queens’ has so far ran over 200 miles in addition to swimming and fitness sessions a couple of times a week.

He says: “We decided to run for KIDS due to the amazing work they do with disabled children and providing support for their families and friends. The staff have been incredibly supportive and encouraging during our training and we’re delighted that money raised from sponsorship will help disabled children and young people to develop their skills and abilities and to fulfil their potential, hopes and aspirations”.

“The KIDS website is www.KIDS.org.uk. Our sponsorship link is www.justgiving.com/JonnyDavison - everything donated here goes straight to KIDS,” added Jonathan.
