Little Max in brave battle to beat cancer

Just over four months ago Eamon Moore and his wife Sinead discovered that their only boy, one of their six year old triplets, had a brain tumour.

Since June Max has had three operations on an aggressive fast-growing tumour on his brain.

Dad Eamon, from Aghagallon, said the tumour was first found in June and, while it was removed, within eight weeks it had returned even bigger in size. Again little Max had another operation to remove the malignant growth and is currently receiving radiation therapy in a bid to keep the tumour at bay.

Mum Sinead, who is originally from Drumellan, and Eamon are pinning their hopes that a scan in January will give the all clear.

“All we have now are prayers,” he said, adding that they had hoped to take Max to Florida for Proton Treatment but must wait until the results of the scan.

“You sort of expect a child at six to have a chance but he has had not much of a chance. He’s a wee fighter. Our worlds have collapsed since we found out. We are lucky we still have him,” said Eamon.

Family and friends have been raising funds and did a charity bag pack at Tesco in Lurgan last Saturday.

Handyman Eamon said the support of family and friends has been fantastic. “I don’t know how I can thank people enough,” he said.

He paid tribute to St John’s Primary School, Portadown where Max and his sister Emily and Aimee attend. “They have bent over backwards for him,” said Eamon, who said all funds raised will be going to a children’s cancer charity.
