If you are living with diabetes or caring for someone who does, your voice and experiences can really help make a difference. They are particularly interested in people living with Type 2 diabetes and those who have recently been diagnosed as they have been under-represented in the past on the Network. The Diabetes Network for Northern Ireland was established in 2016 and brings together people living with diabetes, their carers and health and social care professionals to work in partnership on the design and delivery of better diabetes services. There are currently almost 100,000 people in Northern Ireland living with diabetes and this rises annually by more than 3,000 due to our ageing and growing population. It is estimated around 12,000 people are also living with Type 2 diabetes and have not yet been diagnosed.

Tina McCrossan, National Director, Diabetes UK NI said: ”As the Diabetes Network relaunches its work programme this is a great opportunity for you, as a person living with diabetes or caring for someone who does, to have your voice heard and to make a difference. You have the opportunity to share your experience and to work with others to shape the future of diabetes care in Northern Ireland.”

Anyone interested in sharing their views can complete the online Diabetes Network survey at: https://consultations.nidirect.gov.uk/hsc/diabetes-network-ni. The closing date is August 31.
