“The infection control in place across the Southern Trust has included deep cleans of the Neo Natal Unit in Craigavon Area Hospital and the Special Care Baby Unit in Daisy Hill Hospital. This is in addition to its normal cleaning regime which takes in cleaning three times per day by domestic staff and eight surface cleans daily by nursing staff.”

“The Southern trust has maintained a position of being among the lowest infection rates in the UK and is very welcome.”

“No-one should ever be complacent. That is why I welcome this opportunity to see first-hand for myself the way that the Southern Trust is working things through currently.”

“During my tour I was afforded the opportunity to speak to the parents of young babies being cared for in Craigavon Area Hospital. They were full of praise for the dedication and care of staff. I know that they deeply appreciate the level of dedication and care being given to their little ones.”

“I will continue to keep in very regular contact over coming days and weeks.”
