From April 26, Kathryn Homes is solely responsible for the operations of all 12 care homes previously managed by Runwood Homes.

The homes now under the management of Kathryn Homes are Carrickfergus Manor, Glenabbey Manor, Kintullagh House, Madelayne Court, Magherafelt Manor, Meadow View, Oak Tree Manor, Orchard Lodge, Rose Court, Weavers House, Willow Grove, and Clifton Nursing Home which will now be known as City View Court.

The company's local Board of Directors is led by Theresa Nixon, a former Director of Assurance in Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA), where she was responsible for the annual inspection regime and had oversight and responsibility for any regulatory actions required.

Dermot Parsons, also a former Director of Assurance within RQIA, has been appointed Managing Director. He said: “The establishment of a new company and appointment of an experienced board signifies a new dawn of accountability at a local level and will ensure sound governance.

“Collectively, the wellbeing of residents is our number one priority. In our new roles we are dedicated to providing safe, comfortable homes where residents can receive the right care based on their needs as well as preferences.

“We recognise there are opportunities to improve the care delivered, and are committed to investing in learning and development for our team to ensure ongoing innovation across nursing, residential, dementia, respite and palliative care.”

A £1m refurbishment programme is currently underway at City View Court, previously Clifton Nursing Home.

Mr Parsons continued: “The feedback from residents who have moved to the refurbished rooms has been excellent.

“In addition to refurbished rooms, the entrance hall, common areas have all undergone significant upgrades resulting in a brighter, warmer ambience for our residents and visitors to our homes.

“We are committed to ongoing investment both in our facilities and in the development of our staff.”

Also joining the board are Maureen Hetherington, Dr Eileen Atchison, Stephen Elliott, Tom Sanders, and Kathryn Clarke.
