Newtownabbey walk in memory of those who died with alzheimer’s

The event at the specialist supported living service, which is operated by Praxis Care and Choice Housing Association for people with dementia, was also in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Stephen Potter, Praxis Care’S head of operations for Greater Belfast, said lending a hand to another charity to support and advocate for people affected by dementia was a natural collaboration.

“At The Croft, we support 21 people with an early diagnosis of a dementia, allowing them to remain in the community for as long as possible. We are a community and when residents pass away the emotional impact is felt throughout the tenants and staff,” he said.

“We wanted to mark the memories of past residents this year with a meaningful gesture so we have arranged a sponsored walk which will help raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.”

The Croft has been in operation since 2019 and is supported by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and Supporting People.

Praxis Care is a provider of care for adults and children affected by mental ill health, learning disability, autism and dementia.
