Relay for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK

THE Banbridge Relay for Life will take place this Saturday June 11 at the Rugby Club on the Newry Road.

Organisers of the event, which will begin at 10am, have extended a special welcome to cancer surviviors to participate in the first lap of the event. Refreshments will be available for all survivors in the club house after the first lap. Council chairwoman Joan Baird will open the event at 10am. All are welcome.

The day will feature a full programme of events including a best-dressed competition at 2pm, Relay’s Got Talent at 8pm and the Candle of Hope ceremony will be led by Warren Smyth with music by the Patience family.

There will also be an all-day BBQ and free tea and coffee. Reflexology will be available in the clubhouse between 11am and 4pm in return for a small donation to Cancer Research.

There will also be a bouncy castle, fac epainting, second-hand book stall, hand-crafted jewellery stall and bric-a-brac stalls. A number of cancer and health specialists will be present on the day to offer support and advice.

Money raised from the event will fund the life-saving work undertaken by Cancer Research UK.
