Round Table support Aware

THE Round Table annual charity dinner dance raised £1000 for local mental health charity Aware Defeat Depression.

The donation was made in memory of the late Coleraine woman, Clare Barclay, who sadly lost her battle with depression last year.

Aware Defeat Depression have a support group which meets at the Lodge Hotel on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm and the charity relies on local funding from the public to keep this and other support groups across the province open for those with depression and their families.

Alison Smyth, Head of Fundraising for Aware Defeat Depression, said: “We are very grateful to the Round Table members for choosing to support our charity this year.

“Depression is a common illness affecting one in four of us yet it is still not an illness that society feels comfortable talking about.

“Getting public recognition for our work from the local business community is very important and we are delighted with this most generous cheque and with the opportunity the Round Table have given us to raise awareness of our local support group in Coleraine, which is run by dedicated local volunteers.”
