Festival volunteers from various Samaritan Branches throughout Ireland and are specially trained to do the unique job that they do, supporting those in need or distress face to face but in a discreet way acknowledging that it’s not always easy to talk but that Samaritans are here 24/7 365 days a year.

These volunteers will be available on the streets of the ‘Port’ from 9pm on Friday night right through to the early hours of Sunday. The non-stop service they provide will compliment the charity’s regular 24/7 service, available by phone/e-mail or to drop into at Lodge Road, Coleraine.

The Director of Samaritans Festival branch believes that having the chance to talk openly and in confidence is as important as ever as people continue to cope with everyday life.

“As Samaritans we have the skills, and importantly the time to listen, everything that is shared with Samaritans is confidential and we will in no way judge you.

“Events such as the NW200 are great events and allow people of all ages and genders, and indeed beliefs, to come together as one to enjoy the sport and the atmosphere of this great event.

“But we acknowledge that amidst all this can be very lonely for some, and for many different reasons, but whatever that reason we encourage anyone feeling down to open up and share.”

The Coleraine branch will host a number riders at the Lodge Road premises this Friday.
