Staff at Ulster Hospital support ‘World’s biggest Coffee Morning’

Members of the team put their baking skills to the test, creating some masterpieces that were almost too good to eat!

A colourful hand-crafted crocheted blanket was kindly donated by a patient in the unit to be raffled. Funds raised from the coffee morning will go towards the Macmillan Cancer Support fund. The fund provides support to cancer patients, additional staffing, grants and the provision of the Outreach Programme.

Speaking at the event, Interim Clinical Manager, Ruth Thompson said, “The South Eastern Trust has enjoyed working alongside Macmillan Cancer Support for many years and we very much value the partnership. Macmillan has supported us in many ways including the provision of funding for posts and services.

“Macmillan rely on donations to enable them to develop services for people living with cancer within our local area. Our staff are always very keen to host and support this annual event.”

The Macmillan Unit, which was officially opened in September 2021, is a state-of-the-art Cancer Unit based at the Ulster Hospital and provides assessment, treatment and support for cancer patients and their families.

More than 3 million people are living with cancer in the UK. By 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million. Macmillan helps everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, by providing physical, financial and emotional support.
