Take early action to improve your breathing say the BLF

Breathe Easy Causeway has pledged full support for a British Lung Foundation nationwide awareness campaign to encourage people battling breathing disorder to take early positive action to improve their lifestyle.

The BLF’s year-long campaign is called “Listen to your lungs.”

Breathe Easy Causeway Chairperson, Margaret Henry, said: “We want people to realise that getting out of breath is not always normal – it could be a sign of something more serious.”

The BLF campaign is ncouraging people not to ignore getting out of breath, and helping them decide if it’s time to speak to someone about it.

The British Lung Foundation has built an online breath test.

It asks ten simple questions and should only take five minutes to complete. It will tell people if their breathing is healthy, or if it’s time to get it checked out.

So far, more than 11,000 people have taken the test – and two-thirds said they’ve taken action because of it. BLF say this is really exciting, because it shows that it is working. Breathe Easy members are encouraged to take a laptop or tablet along to their next Group meeting and show the test. It can be found at www.blf.org.uk/breathtesst Indeed, everyone is encouraged to take the test.

Lung disease affects 1 in 5 people in the United Kingdom. That means you probably know someone whose life could be changed by taking the BLF breath test. By sharing it, you can make a big difference.
