Temporary Emergency Department at Craigavon Hospital to close as Daisy Hill’s ED to reopen

The temporary Emergency Department at Craigavon Area Hospital is to shut next Sunday, the Southern Health Trust has revealed.

It was opened in March to deal with non-respiratory emergency cases during the COVID-19 pandemic and is based at the Ramone Building.

At that time Daisy Hill Hospital’s ED temporarily closed and it will reopen on Monday October 19 at 8am

The Non Respiratory ED, based in the Ramone building at Craigavon Hospital will close from 4pm on October 18. All adults coming to the site for emergency care should go to the main ED and children should be brought to Paediatric ED beside maternity.

Dr Gareth Hampton said: ““We appeal for public understanding of the extra demands on our staff. It is absolutely vital that those who need emergency care most are prioritised.”
