Triple success for Breathe Easy group

Most importantly, it involved a combination of the Group’s major twin objectives of alerting the public to the continuing battle to improve the lives of those suffering severe breathing problems and fund-raising to help research and support.

As well, Respiratory Specialist, Carole McGrath, gave members a most informative insight into the proper use of breathing inhalers.

Her main message: “If patients do not use their inhalers, as instructed by their doctors or respiratory specialists, they will not be getting the best benefit of their medication.”

Breathe Easy Chairman, Mr Bill Blair, reported a successful launch of the Group’s contribution to the nationwide campaign to raise awareness of the chronic and incurable lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), which kills more than 4,000 people a year in the United Kingdom.

At the same time, he welcomed three recent donations to BLF funds totalling £1,300.

These included £650 from Gracehill Golf Club, the result of the Club’s Captain’s Day; £400 from the Route Gun Club and £230 from Kilrea Walking Group.

Mr Blair said: “These subscriptions, the result of individual enterprise and generosity, are very much appreciated by Breathe Easy Causeway.

“We recognise that there are many competing demands on charity giving.”

Also as part of a busy and versatile schedule, Ballymoney dog breeder, Emma Archibald, gave members and interesting insight into the history of top Crufts prize winning Golden Retriever “Blue”.
