A rare painting of the Down GAA Senior squad of 1960 has been donated to Southern Area Hospice to raffle by Jim Byrne of Soapy Joe’s car wash, Belfast Road Newry.

The raffle will fall on the 60th Anniversary for Down’s first ever All Ireland success when the defeated Kerry on  September 25, 1960, with a record attendance and the first time Sam Maguire came over the border.

To enter the draw for a chance to win, just donate £5 to Southern Area Hospice Facebook Fundraiser and that will gain you one entry into the draw.

If you would like to enter more than once, you can donate more (£5- one entry, £10- two entries etc.)The draw will take place on September 25 to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of the 1960 game.

The painting, which is approx. 3.5ftx 3ft., was painted by Mairead Murphy of Rostrevor and Carol Murphy is pictured presenting it to James McCaffrey, SAHS, on behalf of Soapy Joe’s Car Wash.
