Lights, Camera, Action! New museum exhibition celebrates 250 years of US influence on the Causeway Coast

It’s lights, camera, action for a new exhibition at Coleraine Museum, celebrating 250 years of US Independence!

USA 250: Showbusiness, Culture and the Causeway Coast explores cultural connections that help tell the story of the USA’s long influence on the Causeway Coast, through that quintessentially American phenomenon of ‘showbusiness’.

This exhibition, in Coleraine Town Hall, has been developed as part of Council’s USA 250 programme, celebrating 250 years of the United States of America.

It explores the rise of the silver screen and local cinemas, theatrical connections and musical influences, and celebrates local figures who made their mark in the USA.

Causeway Coast and Glens Museum Services were delighted to be joined by members of the public, councillors and contributors at a launch event at Coleraine Town Hall on May 15.

Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Richard Brown Stewart, who launched the exhibition, said: “I am delighted to see such a vibrant and interesting display, celebrating the important cultural connections that have existed between the Causeway Coast and United States for generations.

“It is wonderful to learn more about the local characters who have made a splash across the pond and closer to home, and to see important local collections on display for the public to enjoy.”

The USA 250: Showbusiness, Culture and the Causeway Coast exhibition is open at Coleraine Town Hall, Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays).

Admission is free, exhibition closes on Saturday, August 29. For more information, or group tour booking enquiries, email Museum Services:
