The assistance which the charity can provide is really based on the individual needs of the person, but in the past it has included everything from food vouchers, providing home heating oil and utility top-ups to assisting those with health issues who may need specialist equipment to maintain a quality of life.

Brian Kennedy, UDR Benevolent Fund Secretary, said the Fund’s work has been essential to many former members and their dependent families over the years and has encouraged others who may need assistance to come forward, particularly in these challenging times.

To assist with applications, the Benevolent Fund refers former members to highly trained and specialist case workers who will assess their needs and help guide them through the process.
