12 things to do in Northern Ireland next week

THE Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) has put together a list of 12 exciting things to do in Northern Ireland over the next week (April 16 - 22).

Belfast Shipbuilders – A Titanic Tale, City Hall, Belfast, April 16. A fascinating talk by Stephen Camerson that will look at the men who took Belfast, a town with little or no resources, and made it into the shipbuilding capital of the world.

Celtic Media Festival, Derry Playhouse, Co. Londonderry, April 18 – 20. A festival to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries with three days of celebration.

AIDA, Market Place Theatre, Co. Armagh, April 18 – 22. Northern Ireland’s first ever production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s hit rock musical.

True Colours, Waterside Theatre, Co. Londonderry, April 19 – 20. A comedy drama - American Jim is doing his last ever bet at his local bookmakers with his life savings but there is more than money to worry about.

Upstairs Downstairs, The Argory, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, April 19 – August 18. Your chance to see what really goes on behind closed doors as you meet the housekeeper, the governess and the lady’s maid.

Apex Jazz Band, Ballymoney Town Hall, Co. Antrim, April 19. Formed way back in 1966 by trumpet player George Chambers, the Apex Jazz Band, steeped in the tradition of New Orleans Jazz, is Ireland’s longest established jazz band.

Country Music Show, Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, April 20. An enjoyable evening of country music featuring Ireland’s First Lady of Country Music, Susan McCann as well as many other well known artists.

Spring Fair, Barnett Demesne, Belfast, April 21 - 22. This year’s fair will feature a wide range of activities for all the family, including a spring flower show, environmental activities, wildlife displays and craft stalls.

City Cemetery Walking Tours, City Cemetery, Belfast, until April 22. This tour will visit the graves of people linked to the Titanic and its story, culminating with a unique performance presented by Kabosh Theatre Company.
