A box fit for a prince and princess

THE excitement surrounding the Royal Wedding may have died down since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot on Friday, but one Glengormley man has been left on tenterhooks, not knowing how the future King and his new Princess liked his workmanship.

Ian Hawthorne was specially commissioned by a company to make a presentation box to be given to Prince William and his new bride.

He has been sworn to secrecy about the identity of his client, only revealing that it was a large and well-known company which holds a Royal Warrant.

Issued by either the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh or Prince Charles, Royal Warrants are handed out to companies that supply goods or services to the royals.

So the mystery company employing Ian’s services could range from a car company to a clothing firm or even a famous chocolate maker.

Ian said: “I can’t reveal any details of who the customer was, I have been sworn to absolute secrecy.”
