‘A dog is a pet, not a present’ warns Benvardin volunteers

CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and Benvardin Animal Rescue Kennels is urging Coleraine Times readers to take heed of the message..’ A dog is for life not just for Christmas.’

Shaun McIntyre from the kennels on the outskirts of Coleraine says: “ Every year we see some many pups being offered as ‘ready for Christmas’ and every New Year we see so many ending up unwanted in dog pounds.”

The team at Benvardin re-home many of these unwanted pups every year.

“The message is very simple, a dog is a lot of work, so don’t take on the responsibility if you don’t think you will be able to cope,” added Shaun.
