Amanda aims to become the new Face of Ireland

A CLOUGH woman is hoping to land a dream role in a prestigious beauty competition.

Amanda Jane McCullough will represent counties Antrim and Down in the National Grand Final of the Face of Ireland competition, which is scheduled to take place in Dublin on Saturday, October 13.

“It’s not solely a modelling competition - the winner will have more of an ambassadorial role for the Face of Ireland competition and also for its charity, Greater Responsibility and Awareness in Suicide Prevention (GRASP),” Amanda told the Times.

“I used to do a bit of modelling when I was younger but then I got married and had my family.

“Two of my children had a serious illness so I was happy to become a stay-at-home mum and put all the modelling on the backburner.

“I just entered the Face of Ireland competition on a total whim, to be honest.

“It’s not very widely known in Northern Ireland but it’s absolutely massive down south.

“There were 32,000 women throughout Ireland entered it and it has been going on since February, gradually whittling numbers down to the final 25.

“My husband Jason and my friends and family have been a great support to me - it has given me a whole new lease of life.

“At 31, I’m one of if not the oldest of the girls taking part so it was a bit daunting in that sense but everything has been great so far.”

At the black-tie gala dinner finals night, as well as being interviewed on stage, Amanda has to display a ‘talent’ - and she has quite an unusual one up her sleeve.

“I quickly decided it wouldn’t be fair to subject everyone there to my singing!” she laughs.

“But I do have an unusual situation in that I’m a triplet, which obviously not many people are.

“I was the only girl of the three so it was always like having two bodyguards when I was growing up!

“I’m going to do a presentation about what life is like for a triplet growing up and hopefully the fact it’s a bit out of the ordinary will catch people’s attention.

“To win the competition would be amazing. It would mean a really busy year but it would be a fantastic experience,” added Amanda, who has thanked Hillview Cosmetic Clinic for sponsoring her throughout the competition.

She has also thanked the following businesses and organisations for sponsoring her at the Gala Ball: The Peak of Perfection; Trim Tone Tan, Ballymena; Lynburn Bridal; Ka Electrical Services; CMV Beauty; Mobile Teeth Whitening NI; A-Donna’s Body Sculpt; Forever Beauty Products; Balmain; and Vibrance Hair Salon, Ballymena.
