Annual Zomba Fundraising Walk and Barbecue

The annual fundraising walk and barbecue for the Zomba Action Project (Malawi) takes place in Glenullin, Garvagh on Tuesday, July 31 at 6:45pm.

This annual event is the result of a successful partnership between the ‘Get Up & Go Walking Club, SVDP, Kilrea, Coleraine Borough Council and the Jon Mitchel’s GAC in Glenullin.

Participants are encouraged to meet at the John Mitchel’s GAC grounds, Curraghmore Road, Glenullin, at 6:45pm where mini-bus transport is available to the start of the hill walk at Mullan’s hill farm, Drumbane Hill, Glenullin.

The hill walk is approximately three miles long, and walkers are encouraged to don sturdy walking boots, shoes or even ‘wellies’ given the recent inclement weather.

After the walk, all participants are treated to a kindly granted lavish barbecue at John Mitchel’s GAC, where traditional musical entertainment will be provided by local musicians.

There is no charge for this event but rather a donation for the Zomba Action Project.

Mark Strong, Coleraine Borough Council’s Countryside & Marine Manager, and Margaret Mullan and Monica McGuigan of the Get Up & Go Walking Club, Kilrea, are expecting another successful evening.

“We would extend a really warm welcome to everyone to come along and enjoy a fantastic hill walk in the beautiful surroundings of Mullan’s hill farm in the north Sperrins foothills and enjoy our hospitality afterwards, all in the knowledge that we are supporting a very worthy cause in Malawi”.
