Aoife’s Young Writer Award from Rotary

Former Ballycastle Integrated Primary 7 pupil, Aoife Heverin, has scooped the prestigious Young Writer Award hosted by Rotary International, Great Britain and Ireland.

Thousands of children took part in the competition, which required entrants to write about something that has made a difference to their lives and submit their work to their local Rotary Club.

Aoife, now a student at Dalriada Grammar School, clearly impressed judges with the maturity and originality of her work. It was a very rewarding decision, not least by the fact that the triumph was attained in Ballycastle Rotary Club’s first attempt at the competition and indeed by their one and only entrant!

Such was the significance of her achievement that Aoife was requested to recite her work at the Rotary Conference in the Titanic Building, Belfast.
