Roy Warke, Asda Coleraine General Store Manager, explained: “The customer and his wife had been struggling to get their shopping. They were unable to leave their home and had no other support network in place to help. Mark contacted the couple and reassured them that he would get them the groceries they desperately needed.

“Mark collated the goods, arranged payment and delivered them out to the customers’ home in his own car. The couple were extremely appreciative of Mark’s help in getting the essential items they needed. This is the second time in a week Mark has carried out an act of kindness to help our customers during this difficult time.”

Mark explained: “I lost my dad to bowel cancer nearly two years ago, so when it comes to situations like this, I think of him and try to do what my dad would have done.

“He was the type of man who would have helped anyone so that’s what I try to do.

“In times like this, I also think to myself, how would I have liked him to be treated if he was still here and so that’s what I do, whether it’s any of my regular customers or the couple who were particularly at risk.”

Roy added: “Mark is a fantastic colleague who always goes out of his way to be there for his fellow colleagues and customers. He always puts others before himself and nothing is ever too much trouble.
