Award for Kilrea’s ‘healthiest school’

ACTION Cancer and Centra have presented their annual Health Action Awards to Northern Ireland’s healthiest schools, including St. Columba’s Nursery School, Kilrea, which won an award in the North Eastern Education and Library Board for its outstanding health promotion activities for pupils.

Thirty-seven local schools picked up accolades for their innovative approach to health education for pupils, with the highest scoring schools in each Education and Library Board region receiving cash prizes of £200.

St. Columba’s Nursery School won a Gold award for its health promotion projects.

The awards are part of Action Cancer’s Health Action initiative, which offers a range of health promotion sessions for schools and colleges, and is sponsored by Centra. Over 420,000 young people have taken part in Health Action since 2003.
