Fresh from an incredible performance as cynical lawyer Billy Flynn in the Playhouse Theatre’s recent production of ‘Chicago’ in Londonderry, Warren is currently rehearsing with another award-winning theatre group in the city.
Also well-known on the north coast for his singing gigs with his family, Warren is playing Wild Bill Hickock in Londonderry Musical Society’s production of ‘Calamity Jane’ which bursts onto the stage of the Millennium Forum from April 1 -4.
No stranger to the Society, Warren also played Sky Masterson in LMS’ production of ‘Guys n Dolls’.
And, once again, similar to ‘Guys n Dolls’, Warren appears opposite award-winner Ashton Murphy who plays Calamity Jane.
Last year, Ashton starred as Sr Sarah Brown in ‘Guys and Dolls’ and won the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) award for Best Female Voice for her performance.
Calamity Jane the musical is based on the historical figure of frontierswoman Martha Jane Canary. The story involves Calamity’s professional associate Wild Bill Hickok, and presents the two as having a contentious relationship that ultimately proves to be a facade for mutually amorous feelings.
It is a much-loved musical thanks to Hollywood’s adaptation of the story starring Doris Day as Calamity and Howard Keel as Bill.
Also appearing in the LMS’ production of ‘Calamity Jane’ are Ben McGinn as Lieut. Danny Gilmartin, Rachel Harley as Katie Brown, Eoin Callaghan as Francis Fryer, Hannah Deane as Adelaide Adams, David Keown as Henry Miller and Sharon Sweenet as Susan.
Tickets are now on sale for the show’s four performances in the Millennium Forum.
They range in price from £16.50 to £19.50 with a special opening night offer of tickets priced at £15.50. Special family tickets are also available.
