Eight-year-old Travis McDowell has autism so having his head shaved was a brave fundraiser for him to embark upon. His mum Cheryl said: “My wee Travis who has autism - and a massive heart along with it - has decided to shave his head and make wee bracelets to raise funds for the NHS after our granny/great granny Theresa Stirling was taken into hospital last week, very ill.

“We have set up a donation page that will raise money for the MAU (Medical Assessment Unit) department in Causeway Hospital. Travis has a target of £1,000.

“The NHS have been amazing with our wee granny and we would like to give something back as a family. These wee bracelets are made of beads by Travis himself.”

Harpur’s Hill PS pupil Travis has received many Facebook messages of support and donations. To donate to the fundraiser, go to Facebook and look for the page ‘Travis NHS fundraiser’.
