Big Spring clean-up at Ecos Park

Ballymena Borough Council is actively participating in the Big Spring Clean 2015 – the annual initiative supported by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

This Saturday staff from the Council’s Environmental Services team are teaming up with 1st Broughshane Cub Scouts/Leaders, and parents and staff from McDonalds to carry out a clean-up within the Ecos Park.

The clean- up will commence from KFC entrance to Ecos Park.

Kevin Woodin of Ballymena Borough council said: “The main objective of the Big Spring Clean is to encourage and support local residents to help out with a litter clean-up of their immediate neighbourhood. At the same time the Council will be taking the opportunity to raise awareness of with them of items which are eligible for recycling.

Spring Clean-Up events are planned throughout the year and any organisation that wishes to participate in cleaning up their area can contact Environmental Health on 028 25660373 for further guidance.

Residents should note that in addition to normal bin collection service, Ballymena Borough Council offers a free bulky collection service for collection of larger waste items such as fridges, freezers, cookers etc. Contact 028 25648096 for this service.
