Bushmills rocking with Arts Camp

The innovative camp organised and funded by the North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Youth Service.

The camp began its activities on Monday and involves Music and Creative Technology and will see seventy young people between the ages of fifteen and eighteen from Ballymoney, Coleraine and Magherafelt areas taking part in the week long residential. 
The focus on this year’s Camp is ‘Inclusion’ with workshops involving the Youth Service and outside agencies helping to promote and develop the personal and social development of the participants. 
Learning skills in Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, Singing, Signwriting, Garageband, Film Making, Storyboarding and Editing will also take place. 
 Participants will have a personal log book of their week’s experiences; these will aim to provide opportunities for the young people to reflect on their learning throughout Camp Rock.

A celebration concert will then take place at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine on Thursday, July 4 when family and friends of the young people will be entertained Camp Rock style!

Terry Hamill, Senior Youth worker, commented: “This is now our 6th year of Camp Rock and every year it keeps getting bigger and better”.

“As well as bringing together young people from a range of cultures and communities, who get to know each other over the week, it’s a creative arts project that is full of wonderful learning opportunities”.
