Busy time for Glarryford YFC

GLARRYFORD YFC recently held their annual Parent’s Night at Killymurris Presbyterian Church with great success.

Those who attended enjoyed a junior sketch, choir, refreshments, proficiencies, plus club news and arts festival performances. Thanks have been extended to compere Bob Esler, the church for providing the venue and John Ferguson who was soundman on the night during which £370 was raised for club funds.

The Club’s annual Church Service was also held at Killymurris and thanks have been extended to Rev McDowell, organist Mabel, choir leader Robyn McCormick, Suzanne Reid and Jessica Byers for readings, and speaker Diane McConnell who talked about the Meningitis Research Foundation and to everyone who attended and helped raise £400 for the Foundation.

Members have been successful in various competitions in recent weeks including: Emma Johnston, Cathy Knowles, Rachael Frew and Robyn McCormick (through to the Home Management final); and, Robert Anderson and Adam McAuley (through to the Dairy stock judging final). Thanks have been extended to everyone who hosted practices for the Club prior to the competition and to Wallace Gregg and Eddie Houston for their expertise advice and coaching.

Another competition coming up for Glarryford is the One Act Play ‘Out of the Frying Pan, written by Margaret Ferguson, which will be performed at Ballee High School on Friday, April 26, at 7.15pm and tickets are priced £4.

Club members have been attending Ballymena Show committee meetings for months in preparation for the popular annual event (May 24 and 25).

A raffle will be drawn at 3pm on the Saturday at the YFCU stand and tickets can be obtained from any club member, priced £2, for a chance to win a £100 voucher for Mal Maison Hotel, Tescos, Sainsburys, Hillstown Farm Shop or Mini grand prix karting for six persons.

The Club extend best wishes to member Janette Stirling at the YFCU conference this weekend on running for VP. Janette is a very active member in YFCU organisation and was recently elected to the Ballymena Show committee.

Other Club events coming up in the summer include the annual sports night on July 5, Not So Young bbq on August 16 and annual bbq on August 17.
