Cancer Health and Wellbeing Event in Ballymoney next week

THE Northern Health and Social Care Trust is holding a Moving On after a cancer diagnosis Health and Wellbeing Event in Ballymoney Town Hall on Thursday, April 18 from 10.00am to 12.30pm.

The event is designed for patients who have completed treatment for cancer and who would like more information on how to move on after a diagnosis of cancer.

With improvements in cancer detection and treatment increasing numbers of people are either cured or living much longer with cancer and consequently their needs are changing.

In response to this a programme to transform how cancer follow up care is provided is underway with services being more responsive to individual’s needs. In addition greater attention is now being paid to ensuring people are well informed about care and support available to them during and after treatment within their locality.

This event will include a series of short talks from health professionals, covering what to expect after treatment, dietary advice, taking exercise, managing fatigue and psychological support. There will also be a number of information stands.

The Trust would encourage those interested to bring a friend or family member with them as much of the information may be of interest to them. If you would like to attend please contact Moyra Mills, Macmillan Transforming Cancer Follow Up Project Manager on 07778637808 or email at [email protected]
