Cedar Foundation cook up culinary masterclass

YOUNG people with physical and sensory disabilities from the Causeway area have completed a six week cookery course with The Cedar Foundation.

The conclusion of the ‘Can Cook, Will Cook’ course was marked with a culinary masterclass courtesy of Barry Dallat, chef and proprietor of Arbutus Grill and Wine Bar restaurant in Kilrea.

Cedar employee Virginia Convery has been teaching the young people in the kitchens at Armour Day Centre in Ballymoney.

Ryan Archibald (23) from Coleraine said: “The whole course was just brilliant, I’d love to do it again!”

Emma Gordon who works in Cedar’s Training Services in Ballymoney added, “The course ran to teach our clients independent living skills but they all left with so much more than just cooking skills, new friendships were formed and everyone had so much fun.

“We would like to thank Barry for hosting the masterclass in the Arbutus kitchen- the food he made us was just incredible!”

The Cedar Foundation deliver a range of services that enable children and adults with disabilities to be fully included in their communities.
