Celebrate Chinese New Year at the famous Go Sun, Ballymena

THE Chinese New Year celebrations are well underway at The Go Sun restaurant in Ballymena.

Monday marked the first day of the Year of the Dragon and the local restaurant has planned some fantastic events for local people to join in with to celebrate and mark the occasion over the next two weeks.

Tonight (Tuesday, January 24 ), tomorrow Wednesday, January 25, and also on Wednesday, February 1, patrons can avail of a fantastic ‘Taster Menu’ for just £19.95 per couple. This will allow patrons to try a selection of smaller versions of old favourites and new dishes. The three course meal of starter, main course and dessert, includes a free drink. Chinese Cake and Chinese Tea will be served as the dessert.

On Thursday, January 26 and Thursday, February 2, The Go Sun will be hosting a New Year Buffet Night for £10.95 per person. Diners can choose from over 30 starters, main courses and desserts which will be served as part of the buffet.

There will be grand finale nights on Friday, January 27 and Friday, February 3, with a special banquet being served on both occasions, which has been put together by Head Chef Stephen and Chef Heung.

To end the grand finale night events, a release of traditional Chinese lanterns to light up the night’s sky (weather permitting) .

As well as the release of traditional Chinese lanterns, The Go Sun will be marking another Chinese tradition in the form of ‘Money Tree’.

Guests visiting the restaurant during their Chinese New Year celebrations will be given the chance to take part in this tradition.

Each table will get one free pick from the Money Tree, which will contain a selection of prizes as well as money, and in addition to this, diners will be presented with a red envelope on arrival. This is considered lucky money, regardless of the amount given.

Each person attending from Monday, January 23 to Friday, February 3 will also be entered into a free draw to be drawn on the Grand Finale Special Banquet nights on Friday, January 27 and Friday, February 3.
