Celtic Soul at the Old Courthouse

IT’S going to be a marvellous night for a Moondance on September 29 when Celtic Soul perform the music of Van Morrison in the intimate setting of the Old Courthouse Theatre.

The band – a seven-piece tribute to both Van as a person and his music - have been drawing big crowds and receiving huge critical acclaim from Van fans wherever they play.

Clarke Wilson, the band’s singer and sax player, said: “We’ve only been in existence less than a year but already we have seen massive interest and support for what we are doing.

“We’re all fans of Van’s music and we pay homage to the Man by our sensitive and knowledgeable renditions of his classic hits and favourite album tracks.”

Of course Van Morrison himself will be performing in Belfast this weekend, September 8 at Aircraft Park as part of the East Belfast Arts Festival. And all the band members of Celtic Soul will be in the audience.

Clarke added: “Not only will be enjoying the show as fans we’ll be listening carefully to exactly what the band and the Man are playing.

“So there could be some fresh surprises in the Old Courthouse show! With this group of musicians we have the experience and expertise to perform the music to the highest of standards.

“The Courthouse is a fantastic venue for us to perform in. It suits the music perfectly – especially his quieter more intimate songs.”

With songs like ‘Cyprus Avenue’, ‘Jackie Wilson Said’, ‘Cleaning Windows, ‘Days Like This’ ‘In the Garden’ and of course ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, Celtic Soul take you on a journey through the songbook of a musical legend.

Tickets priced £12 for the show are available in advance from the Courthouse in person, by phone 028 9446 3113 and online at www.antrim.gov.uk
