Christmas at Castleroe PS

Castleroe Primary School is well known for fostering the musical and dramatic talents of their pupils, and this Christmas season was no exception.

The Board of Governors, staff and pupils of Castleroe Primary School welcomed the local community to their Christmas Concert in Macosquin Presbyterian Church Hall on Wednesday, December 18.

As well as gifted recitals from the skilled quartet including Joseph Alexander (violin), Laura Romanowska (violin), Aaron Jack (flute) and Matthew Murphy (oboe), the audience were also entertained by the singing of carols in Spanish between shows from members of the Spanish class under the tuition of Senora Pauley.

A school spokesperson said: “We were then richly blessed by the talents of the whole school when every child was given an opportunity to participate. Each stage of the school regaled us with their own performance, starting with Foundation Stage classes, P1 and P2, who performed a Christmas Meledy of songs from talented reindeer, snowflakes, penguins and snowmen. This festive introduction was hard to follow, however Key Stage One classes, P3 and P4, rose to the challenge with a skilled retelling of the traditional Nativity.

“Solo performances from Eva- Rose Blair as Mary and Sarah Perry in the role of innkeeper were particularly noteworthy, as well as the skilled narrators who read with clarity and expression. Finally, Key Stage Two classes of P5, P6 and P7 entertained our guests with a highly entertaining and professional showing of ‘Cinderella Rockerfella’. With a talented Ellie Martin cast as Cinders, and rock star in the making, Evan Johnston, as Rockie, we were treated to a superb seasonal panto, complete with Aaron Jack and Jenson Hartin as the highly entertaining ‘Ugly Sisters’. The audience were treated to an excellent show, and it is clear that there are many gifted and talented children being nurtured at Castleroe PS.

“A huge well done to all children and staff who worked hard on their scenes, with pupils clearly developing in stage presence and confidence, but most importantly, enjoying themselves whilst doing so.”
