The Cloughmills Community Action Team pulled out all the stops this year to celebrate Christmas in the village.

Unable to welcome children and families to The Mill due to Covid restrictions, the team instead decided to bring Christmas to the village.

Santa and Mrs Claus, along with a team of volunteers, collected the names and ages of all 191 children in the village and then personally delivered a present to them.

With 2020 being such a challenging year for everyone, the event was about celebrating the very best of what exists in the village. And while the entire day was socially distanced and Covid compliant, the support from everyone in the village who came to their doorsteps to cheer and clap on Santa and the volunteers was truly heartwarming.

Patrick Frew, Chairman of the Community Action Team, said: “It was an amazing day and we are all humbled by the support from everyone in Cloughmills. Huge thanks to Triangle Housing and Causeway Coast and Glens Council for their support and to all the local businesses who sponsored the presents. As well as to all our volunteers who once again put others before themselves and gave up their time to make it such a special day.”
